Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included physical environment and posted menu.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection took place from 1:30 - 3:45 pm. There were 12 children present with the provider and two assistants for 33 points. I observed the beginning of naptime and the transition to waking up and playing. I also observed children beginning snacktime. Records were well-organized. If you have any questions, please contact me at brenda.kuhlman@dss.viriginia.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B
Description: Based on a review of children's records today, there was some required information not present. Evidence: On the enrollment form for Child #, the parent wrote that the child had a food allergy but did not include action to take in the event of allergic emergency..

Plan of Correction: I will ask the parent to put it in writing.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, some outdoor play areas were not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: Near the play area, there are some areas accessible that could be hazardous: a small hill looks down on a neighbor's drainage area/creek; and cables from the utility company's pole are are accessible at child height. There were two protruding bolts from the bottom of the stair post; and countertop board unstable and accessible, propped loosely at the planting area.

Plan of Correction: We will put in a temporary fence this weekend. We will call the utility company to at least make the cables secure, the board will be drilled and tied to the stairs; the stair post will be repaired.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, some potentially poisonous substances were not in an inaccessible area. Evidence: The door to the laudryroom was open, where detergents were stored on top of the washing machine.

Plan of Correction: We will put a latch on the laundry room door.
