Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. The provider was caring for 4 children, totaling 12 points. Children's records, caregiver training, emergency preparedness items, provider:child interactions, the physical plant, and administrative documents were inspected today. The provider reported that no children's medications were on site today. The children were observed playing with toys, interacting with the provider, singing songs, and practicing their counting/alphabet skills. This inspection was completed between approximately 10:00am and 11:00am. Thank you for meeting with me today. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at sandra.dimperio@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-A
Description: Based on a review of emergency preparedness items, it was determined that the emergency preparedness plan has not been completed as required. Evidence: The provider has not updated the emergency plan to include a clear and distinct "method to alert" sound for each emergency scenario.

Plan of Correction: I misunderstood the requirement. I will update the plan today and include a different alert sound in each section.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-940-A
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the refrigerator has not been maintained at 40 degrees or lower. Evidence: The thermometer inside the children's refrigerator indicated a temperature of 45 degrees.

Plan of Correction: I will adjust the temperature to keep the refrigerator cold enough.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-580-C
Description: Based on provider interviews, it was determined that the provider has not been providing all required daily activities for the children. Evidence: Per the provider, the children do not go outside for vigorous outdoor play each day.

Plan of Correction: We will begin going outside today. Until I have the permission slips signed to walk to the neighborhood play space, I will take the children outside in my front yard/driveway area.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-E
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the diaper trash can was not equipped as required. Evidence: There is no liner inside the diaper trash can.

Plan of Correction: I will keep a plastic bag inside the trash can as a liner.
