Technical Assistance:
The next anticipated inspection will be the provider?s renewal inspection. Provider was reminded to have all renewal application documents completed and sent into licensing office 45 days prior to expiration for processing. The renewal application is available on the VDSS website.

Comments:
Today an unannounced Monitoring inspection took place between 11:00am and 1:20pm. There were 11 children present with the provider and 1 assistant for a total of 27 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing outside in a water sensory table and on the play set, eating snacks, playing with stickers books, drinking bottles and napping. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, menu, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please email me at whitney.mcgrath@dss.virginia.gov.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-900-B
Description: Based on observation, children were permitted to eat and drink while walking, running and playing. Evidence: 1. Children were observed walking around under the provider's outside pavilion with watermelon and grapes. 2. Children were observed playing on the swing set on swings, going down the slides and running in the grass while eating popsicles and drinking yogurt smoothies. 3. Child #6 was observed walking around the family day home while drinking a bottle of milk. 4. Child #8 was observed walking around the family day home with a fruit pouch.

Plan of Correction: I'll try my best. We'll start doing this today.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-A
Description: Based on interview, the provider did not maintain an up-to-date record for each enrolled child. Evidence: 1. When asked for the record for Child #6 the provider was unable to locate the child's records. 2. Child #7's file has not been reviewed for up-to-date contact and medical information annually. The most recent review of information is dated 10/2/2017.

Plan of Correction: These children are not usually here. They just dropped in today. If they continue coming, I'll get this information from the parents.
