An unannounced renewal visit was conducted today between the hours of 9:00am through 10:30am with the provider on site. There were 10 children (25 points) with the provider and assistant. A sample of 5 children's files and 6 staff/household member's files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: toy play, playing dress up, dancing to music and other organized activities. Interactions between the children and caregivers were positive. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. The site was clean, organized and contained an abundant supply of developmentally appropriate materials. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-B Description: Based on documentation review, the provider did not practice the shelter in place procedures twice a year. Evidence: 1. The provider practiced the shelter in place drill once in 2018, but did not practice the drill a second time. Plan of Correction: I will make sure we practice two shelter in place drills each year.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation, furnishing of the family day home inside were not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. A blue children's sofa had a large rip on the seat area of the sofa. Plan of Correction: I threw it away during the inspection.
