Technical assistance was offered regarding the use of high chairs for children. Training information was given to the provider.
- Comments:

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 11:20am to 12:25pm. There were 3 children (8 points) in care of 1 caregiver. The children were observed playing with toys and eating lunch. Hand washing before lunch was observed. The lunch menu included pasta, meatballs, corn, strawberries and milk. 3 children's records, 2 household member records and 2 caregiver records were reviewed. Other documents reviewed included the emergency plan and drill records, attendance records and menu. Positive caregiver to children interactions were observed. There were no medications on site. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-770 Description: Based on staff interview, a working battery operated weather band radio was not kept at the family day home. Evidence: The provider stated that she did not have a battery operated radio in the family day home. Plan of Correction: I will get a battery operated radio.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-540-A Description: Based on observation, a high chair when occupied by a child, was not used in accordance to the manufacturer's instructions. Evidence: Child # 1 was placed in the high chair for lunch but the safety straps were not securely fastened. Plan of Correction: The safety strap was fastened during the inspection.
