54.1-3408 Provider must be MAT certified to administer prescription medication.
- Technical Assistance:
The license cannot be renewed until the Inspector receives documentation showing the completion of 13 remaining training hours for Assistant Caregiver A. This documentation shall be provided to the Inspector prior to the expiration of the license.
An unannounced full renewal inspection was conducted today. The provider and one assistant caregiver were caring for 10 children, totaling 23 points. Children's records, caregiver/adult records, staff training, background checks, caregiver:child interactions, programming, the physical plant, children's nutrition, pet records, the physical plant, and emergency preparedness items were inspected today. The children were observed playing outside, assembling puzzles, reading books, practicing pattern/letter/color recognition skills, and eating lunch. The children were served cheese pizza, strawberries, and milk for lunch today. This inspection was completed between approximately 9:45am and 11:45am. Thank you for meeting with me today. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-710 Description: Based on a review of children's medications, it was determined that the provider has administered one medication without current Medication Administration Training (MAT.) Evidence: The provider routinely administers one daily prescription medication to child B. The provider's MAT certificate expired on 4/23/19. Plan of Correction: I have already completed the online renewal for my MAT certificate. I am scheduled to attend the in class test next week. The child who receives the medication will not be here next week.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-750-A Description: Based on a review of children's topical ointment products, it was determined that one item was not labeled as required. Evidence: One child's topical ointment product was not labeled with his name. Plan of Correction: The name has worn off. I will label it again today.
