Technical Assistance:

Technical assistance today included crib sheets, indoor and outdoor play areas and emergency practice drills.

Comments:

An unannounced renewal inspection took place today from 9:15 - 11:30 am today. There were three children in care with the provider for 5 points. I observed children playing with building toys, listening to a story, clapping to "Bingo" and preparing for snack. The provider has completed her CDA renewal and is using the Portage Tool for Observation and Planning for early education. Standard #:	22VAC40-111-830-B
Description:	Based on a review of records and staff confirmation, there were no shelter-in=place procedures practiced this year.
Plan of Correction:	We will do two shelter-in-place practice a year.
Standard #:	22VAC40-111-430-A
Description:	Based on observation during today's inspection, children under age two have access to stairs. Evidence: There was no gate at the stairs in the basement to prevent climbing the stairs.
Plan of Correction:	We will get a gate there.
Standard #:	22VAC40-111-430-D
Description:	Based on observation during today's inspection, there were some areas on the deck that were not constructed to prevent climbing/crawling through or falling through. Evidence: There were approximately six inches between the flooring and the first railing on the bottom of the deck; and an uneven area where the railing didn't completely encircle the deck. This area was blocked by an unstable gate today.
Plan of Correction:	We will get materials to fix the areas of the fence.
