Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 8:25am-11:00am. There were 9 children (31 points) supervised by 2 direct care staff. The home, 3 staff records, 6 children?s records, 1 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Non-prescription medications were on site today. Children were observed engaging freely. There was an abundance of books, toys, and materials, which were found to be developmentally appropriate for the children in care at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-730-D
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that medication was kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: Three containers of infant nasal spray were found on a shelf in the infant room.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-930-D
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that eating utensils and dishes were stored in a clean dry place, and protected from contamination. Evidence: Children's bibs, feeding spoons, and cups were found sitting on top of a wooden board covering the tub in the staff bathroom.

Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that potentially poisonous substances were stored away from food in areas inaccessible to children. Evidence: Several containers of various cleaning spray cans were found inside of the bathroom tub, underneath a wooden board.

Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that infant equipment was used according to the manufacturer's instructions. Evidence: Child #3 was observed strapped in a bouncy chair that was placed on top of a child table.
