Technical assistance was provided regarding CPS background checks must be completed within 30 days of employment. A discussion was also held on the importance of reference checks and proper documentation.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:00am-11:00am. There were 7 children (17 points) supervised by 3 direct caregivers. The home, 2 staff records, 7 children?s records, 1 household member?s record, evacuation drills, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed engaging freely. There was an abundance of books, toys, and materials, which were found to be developmentally appropriate for the children in care at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Thank you for your cooperation during this inspection. A monthly emergency drill was not practiced during the month of June, 2019.Plan of Correction: We did a shelter in place drill, going forward I will make sure to do an emergency drill along with a shelter in place drill.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-120-B Description: Based on review 2 staff records, 1 is incomplete.
Evidence:
Staff #1 only has documentation of 1 reference check.Plan of Correction: I will make sure to get 2 references for all employees.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-90-C Description: Based on review of 8 children's records, 1 does not have documentation of an updated immunization record every 6 months until the child is 2 years old.
Evidence:
Child #1, under the age of 2, does not have documentation of an updated immunization record, last update was 11/13/18.Plan of Correction: I will contact mom and get the updated immunization record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of 2 staff records, 1 does not have documentation of a central registry finding within 30 days of employment.
Evidence:
Staff #1, start date 6/10/19, does not have a central registry finding.Plan of Correction: I will have her completed the form and mail it in. When results are returned I will forward them to licensing inspector.
