Technical Assistance:
The swing set will be anchored to the ground and mulch will be applied for the surfacing. Children will not use the swing set until this is completed.
The outside shed will be moved to the far side of the house, away from the area where the children play.
Parents will sign new emergency preparedness plans tomorrow as they arrive to the new home.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between the hours of 9:00 am through 11:00. There were no children in attendance this date. The Provider has moved to a new home, the home and child care area were inspected. The child care is located on the lower level of the 2 story home. The children will use the backyard for outside play. There is ample space for the 7 children allowed by Zoning. Children's files and 3 staff/household member's files were reviewed.The children will start again tomorrow. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-B
Description: Based on a review of emergency drills, the Provider has not complete shelter in place drills.
Evidence: The Provider has not completed and documented 2 shelter in place drills each year.

Plan of Correction: I will conduct drill and document.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B
Description: Based on a review of children records, all records are not complete.
Evidence: Child #1's record is missing the information for parents form
Child #2's record is missing 2 emergency contact address and phone number.

Plan of Correction: I will ask the parents for this information.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-430-D
Description: Based on observation and caregiver interview, there are no guardrails or protective barriers by stairs.
Evidence: There are no handrails inside by the stairs leading down to the child care area, caregiver stated they were removed to paint and move in furniture.
There are no handrails by the last 3 steps that lead to the outside backyard area.
There are no protective barriers next to the brick wall outside where the stairs lead to the childcare area. There are large openings where children could fall through.

Plan of Correction: The handrail inside will be replaced next to the stairs today.
We will purchase a handrail for the last 3 steps outside leading to the backyard.
We will place a protective barrier around the brick wall near the stairs to prevent children falling through.
If the outside areas in the backyard are not completed today the children will play in the front yard.
