Technical Assistance:
Consultation was given on the use of a baby monitor in the upstairs bedroom when the crib is occupied and the remaining children are on the main level of the home.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal study was conducted today. Three children were in care for eight points with one caregiver. Children were playing with equipment and supplies, infant care and listening to music. Reviewed all household members background checks, a sample of children files, nutrition (fish, kale and sweet potatoes will be served at lunch) as well. Cribs in use meet the current CPSC guidelines. The provider has current MAT, first aid/CPR certification and exceeds the annual training hour requirements. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B
Description: Based on record review, one of four children's records is incomplete.
Evidence:
Child #1's record has not had an annual update (last reviewed 9/30/2017)

Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure the parent reviews and documents the update the next time the child is in care.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280
Description: Based on observation and provider statement, hazardous substances are not stored in an area inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
Bathroom cleaner is located in the upstairs bathroom cabinet, which is used by the children who spend the night, and is not locked or inaccessible to children in care.

Plan of Correction: THe provider has an extra slide lock and will place it on the cabinet today.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D
Description: Based on the observation, the diaper pad is no longer non-absorbent.
Evidence:
The pad has a rip n the plastic cover and the foam base is exposed.

Plan of Correction: A new pad will be purchased.
