Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding cleaning and sanitizing mouthed toys, cleaning and sanitizing blankets and play areas of children to prevent the spread of germs, methods of carrying and lifting an infant, menu posting, emergency preparedness plan, and shelter in place drills being conducted twice a year.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 9:45am-11:30am. There were 4 children (13 points) directly supervised by 1 staff. The home, 1 staff records, 4 children?s records, 5 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and eating snack. Snack served today was animal crackers and milk. Diapering procedures were also observed. There was a supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-A
Description: Based on record review, the provider did not have a written emergency preparedness and response plan.

Evidence: The provider could not provider a written emergency preparedness and response plan that outlined all the required information in case of emergency.

Plan of Correction: I will fill out an emergency preparedness plan.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-920
Description: Based on record review, the provider did not have a menu for the current one week period which was dated.

Evidence: The provider did not have a menu posted and the parents were not made aware of menu items for the current one week period.

Plan of Correction: I will start posting a weekly menu.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-80-A
Description: Based on record, the provider did not obtain a proof of identification for each child.

Evidence: Child 2 and 3 do not have documentation of obtaining proof of identification.

Plan of Correction: I will talk to the parents today to get the documentation.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B
Description: Based on observation, child-resistant protective covers were not installed on all unused electrical outlets.

Evidence: One unused electrical outlet between the two closets in the playroom did not have a child-resistant protective cover in place.

Plan of Correction: At the time of inspection, a protective cover was placed in the unused electrical outlet.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-510-A
Description: Based on observation, a child was not provided with an individual crib.

Evidence: Child 1 was observed in a light wood crib in the play area to rest and then was removed. A few minutes later, Child 2 was placed in the same light wood crib as Child 1 previously was in.

Plan of Correction: Every child has their own crib. I will make sure to place children in their individual cribs.
