An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted in the Family Day Home on 11/12/019. The Licensing Inspector observed 1 child in care at a total of three points. A sample of 4 children's records was reviewed and the licensee's record. The children were observed at free play, and diapering procedures. The inspector arrived at 8:00 a.m. and departed at 10:30 A.M.
Discussion with the licensee about media times not going over 2 hours per day per child.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-780-B Description: Based on review of four children's records, the licensee failed to ensure that all records were reviewed annually.
1. Child # 1 most recent annual update was 5/8/2018.
2. Child # 3 most recent annual update was 2/15/2018.
3. Child # 4 most recent annual update was 8/24/2018.
Plan of Correction: Will obtain the annual update from the parents today or as they arrive.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-B Description: Based on observation, the licensee failed to ensure that caregivers washed the hands of the children after diapering or toileting with liquid soap and warm running water.
1. Child # 1 had his diaper changed twice during the inspection. The child's hands were not washed with liquid soap and warm water.
Plan of Correction: The licensee will make sure that all hands are washed with soap and water after each change.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D Description: Based on observation, the licensee failed to ensure that the diapering surface was cleaned and sanitized.
1. The diapering surface was sanitized after each change. The licensee did use a baby wipe but the requirement is for soap and water and then a sanitizing agent.
Plan of Correction: The licensee will place a soap water bottle in the diaper changing area and will make sure that both steps are completed.
