Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on November 7, 2019 from approximately 10:20 AM to 12:45 PM to determine the provider's compliance with licensing standards. In attendance were 10 children, totaling 20 points, being supervised by the provider and the assistant. The children were observed interacting with the provider and the assistant, during music activities, free play, outdoor play, and lunch. Lunch today consisted of grilled cheese, peaches, corn, and milk. Children's books, toys, and equipment were inspected and found to be age appropriate and in operable condition. The children's restroom was inspected with the required supplies present. The family day home had the required postings displayed. The first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected with the required items found. The emergency preparedness plan was reviewed. There is no medication being administered at this time. Five children's records, three caregiver records, and one household member record was inspected. The following was also inspected: emergency drill logs, parent agreements, and other pertinent information. If you have any questions regarding today's inspection, contact the licensing inspector at (804) 662-9092.

Violations:
Standard #: 63.2-1721.1-B-2
Description: Based on a review of one adult household member record, the provider did not ensure the record contained documentation of a national fingerprint-based criminal history record check. Evidence: The record for Household Member #1 did not contain documentation of a national fingerprint-based criminal history record check.

Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure that the household member initiates the fingerprinting background check within 10 days and will provide the licensing inspector with documentation of the appointment. The provider states the household member had recently turned 18 years old and the requirement for fingerprinting as an adult was overlooked. The provider will ensure all backgrounds are completed in a timely manner.
