Technical Assistance:

Technical assistance today included medications, record keeping, emergency drills, and required background checks.

Comments:

An unannounced monitoring inspection took place today after Thanksgiving weekend. There were 4 children, including the provider's child for 9 points with the provider and assistant. Description:	Based on observation and staff confirmation today, a medication was on the premises for a child after it was no longer required. Evidence: A bottle of liquid medication was present for a child who left the program before the summer.
Plan of Correction:	Disposed of in an upstairs trash can.
Standard #:	22VAC40-111-720-A
Description:	Based on a review children's medications today, there were some requirements not met for nonprescription medications. Evidence: There was no written authorization for two teething medications for one child in care.
Plan of Correction:	I will give the authorization to the parent.
Standard #:	22VAC40-111-60-B
Description:	Based on a review of a sample of children's records today, not all required information was present. Evidence: The enrollment form for Child # 2 was not signed, there was no health insurance number documented and a parent's place of work/school was not documented.
Plan of Correction:	I will talk to the parent today.
Standard #:	22VAC40-111-140-D
Description:	Based on a review of records today, there was no documentation as required of the substitute provider's hours when the regular provider is not on the premises. Evidence: There was no sign in and out documentation for substitutes when the provider is away from the home (at the family's licensed child day center.)

Description:	Based on a review of records and staff confirmation today, there was not a current tuberculosis screening documented for one household member as required. Evidence: There was no documentation of TB screening for Household Member #3 who has been living in the home since September. .
Plan of Correction:	She will go for a TB screening.

Description:	Based on observation during today's inspection, there was an area not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: In the children's bathroom, there was peeling paint observed adjacent to the toilet.
Plan of Correction:	We are in the process of painting the bathroom. It will be finished this week.

Description:	Based on observation today, there was a window blind cord not placed out of reach of children as required. Evidence: A cord was accessible in the naproom.

Description:	Based on a review of staff and household records today, there was no documentation of background checks as required for a newer household member. Evidence: Household Member # 3, who arrived September 2019, did not have background checks.
Plan of Correction:	She will get the fingerprinting and Search of the Central Registry for Virginia done.
