Technical Assistance:
Discussed talking to parents about a seizure plan for a child who's physician has indicated the occurrence of seizures.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from approximately 10:30am-12:10pm. There were 9 children (13 points) directly supervised by 2 staff. The child care area, 2 staff records, 5 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, 2 pet
records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely, working on a coloring and tracing worksheet, and listening to a book read aloud. Staff were observed actively engaging with children and encouraging getting along and cleaning routines. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on record review, the provider's emergency plan was not reviewed at least annually.
Evidence:
The most recent documented review of the emergency response plan was conducted on July 2, 2018.

Description: Based on record review, the family day home did not keep a written record of children in attendance each day.
Evidence:
The family day home did not have attendance documented for December 2 and December 3, 2019.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-70-A
Description: Based on record review, 1 of 5 children's records reviewed did not contain documentation that the parents have been provided in writing all of the required family day home's policies.
Evidence:
Child 5's record did not contain: Whether or not there is liability insurance of at least $100,000 per occurrence and $300,000 aggregate in force on the family day home operation as required by ? 63.2-1809.1 of the Code of Virginia; Policies for the administration of medications; Requirement for paid caregivers to report suspected child abuse or neglect according to ? 63.2-1509 of the Code of Virginia;Provisions of the family day home's emergency preparedness and response plan; Address of the website of the department, with a note that a copy of this regulation and additional information about the family day home may be obtained from the website, including compliance history that includes information after July 1, 2003.

Plan of Correction: A copy of this information has been provided to parents. I will request that they return the missing paperwork to me.
