Technical Assistance:

Technical assistance was provided regarding backrgound checks, annual training hours and the licencing process.

Comments:

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:30am-12:15pm. There were 8 children (20 points) directly supervised by 2 staff. The home, 2 staff records, 3 children?s records, 1 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed building towers with blocks, playing with playdough, and speaking Spanish with the caregivers. Infants were observed being held during bottle feedings, having tummy time and crawling freely. There was a supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Standard #:	22VAC40-111-830-A
Description:	Based on record review, emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly. Evidence: A November 2019 drill was not documented. Staff stated the drill was completed but forgot to documentation.
Plan of Correction:	Today I will write down the drills.
Standard #:	22VAC40-111-960-E
Description:	Based on observation, bottles were not labeled with the date. Evidence: 3 bottles were observed with no date.
Plan of Correction:	We will write the date on the bottles.
Standard #:	22VAC40-111-960-G
Description:	Based on observation, bottles were heated in a microwave oven. Evidence: Staff 2 placed a bottle in a microwave oven to heat the milk.
Plan of Correction:	We will not microwave bottles anymore.
Standard #:	22VAC40-111-60-B
Description:	Based on record review, children's records did not contain all the required information. Evidence: 1) Child 1 is missing a medication policy number and two addresses for emergency contacts. 2) Child 2 is missing a parent work number, one emergency contact and an authorization to provide emergency care if needed.
Plan of Correction:	I will talk to parents today to get the information.
Standard #:	22VAC40-111-570-A
Description:	Based on observation, a caregiver exceeded 16 points and did not have an additional caregiver. Evidence: 1) At 10:35am, inspector arrived at the home. 2) At 10:42am, Staff 1 arrived at the home. Upon interview, Staff 1 stated they were dropping off their own children to school. 3) At 10:44am, Staff 2 was caring for 7 children (18 points).
Plan of Correction:	We will take one of the children with us to drop off if we are over points.
