Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted between the hours of 11:00am and 2:00pm. Upon arrival there were 11 children, totaling 27 points with 2 caregivers. A sample of 3 children's and the licensee's records were reviewed. Children were observed sleeping at nap time. One child was awake and was observed playing with the caregiver.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A
Description: Based on a record review the licensee did not ensure emergency evacuations drills were practiced monthly.
Evidence:
Based on the fire drill log used by the licensee, there was not a fire drill conducted in the months of March and August. The licensee confirmed fire drills were not conducted during those 2 months.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee during the exit interview:
This was an oversight. Shelter-in-place drills were conducted in place of the fire drills. Next time they will be in addition to the monthly required fire drills.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure all areas of the family day home, inside and outside, were maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
The swing set in the front yard had a rusted and bent A-line pole in addition to the concrete ground support was exposed and halfway in the ground.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee during the exit interview:
The children are not permitted in the swing set. The plan is to have it removed from the property.
