An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted in the Family Day Home on December 18, 2019. There were seven children present. Based on the ages of the children, the points totaled 17 with the provider during the inspection. A household member arrived at 11:14 to take care of the grandchild.
The children were observed during free play inside, the lunch meal, and nap time. The caregiver was observed interacting with the children.
A sample of five children's records was reviewed. Records were reviewed for caregiver, assistant and 2 household members. Documentation of the practiced emergency drills and the first aid kit was observed. Reportedly, the Provider does not administer medications. The child care area was clean, organized and supplied with age appropriate materials, books and toys for the children.
The inspection was conducted from approximately 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-570-A Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that the caregiver does not exceed 16 points.
Evidence:
1. Upon arrival at 10:30 A.M. the provider was at 17 points with seven children in care. At 11:14 A.M. a house hold member returned to take care of the provider's grandchild. The provider was now at 13 points.Plan of Correction: The provider stated that the assistant was off today and her grandchild was normally with another caregiver. In the future the provider will not exceed the 16 points per person.
