- Technical Assistance:

Caregivers under the age of 18 must be under the sight and sound supervision of an adult staff member and may not administer medication.
Tuberculosis tests or screenings for caregivers are now required before coming into contact with children. Documentation must have been completed within the last 30 calendar days of the date of employment.
CPR/first aid training is required for all staff within 90 days of the date of employment.
Three hours of Virginia Health and Safety Update Training for Child Care must be completed by all staff hired prior to March 1, 2019 no later than March 1, 2020. (see attached flyer)
Please notify your inspector of termination/suspension of services for more than 24 hours as a result of an emergency.
Please complete http://www.dss.virginia.gov/facility/injury_report_subsidy.cgi to report any serious injury to the Division. Serious injuries are defined as an injury sustained while in day care that resulted in the child getting outside medical treatment.

An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection was conducted with the provider. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date (see separate report for details). Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in the licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. There were eight children present, ranging in age from 7 months to 4 years. Both caregivers have documentation of the 10 hour VA Pre-service Training and have current certification in first aid and CPR. If children with diagnosed food allergies enroll ? please review the applicable standards regarding food allergies. Reminder: evacuation drills are required monthly, shelter in place drills are required twice a year, and a lockdown drill is required once a year. Lockdown drills are to isolate children from a security threat; shelter in place drills are to protect children from a natural or manmade threat. The last lockdown drill was conducted 5/2019.
