63.2 Facilities and Programs

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 8:40am-10:00am. There were 5 children (18 points) directly supervised by the provider and 2 staff. The home, 3 staff records, 5 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today and the provider is currently working to obtain her Medication Administration certification . Children were observed playing freely on the floor with caregivers engaged in active play and song. Diapering procedures were also observed. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. The home was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-B
Description: Based on record review, the provider did not update the emergency preparedness plan at least annually.
Evidence:
The emergency preparedness plan was last updated on 6/6/2018.

Plan of Correction: I will review the emergency preparedness plan and document the date.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-520-C
Description: Based on observation, one crib in use did not meet all requirements.
Evidence:
One crib used for sleeping was observed to have mesh sides.

Plan of Correction: The crib was provided by the parent. I will return it to the parent and use an appropriate crib for the child.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D
Description: Based on observation, the diaper changing surface was not cleaned and sanitized after use.
Evidence:
The diapering surface was cleaned using a baby wipe after use. No sanitizer was used.

Plan of Correction: I will train the staff on the proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
