The following inspection took place between the hours of 9 am through 11 am. Today, I met with the Provider on site at the Family Day Home (FDH) located in Aldie, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced renewal inspection there were a total of 10 children observed (26 points) with 2 caregivers. A total of 10 children?s files, 2 staff files, and 1 household member?s file was reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: toy play, music, art, infant sleeping, bathroom breaks, hand washing, games, learning, and other organized activities. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A
Description: Based on review, the emergency evacuation procedures (fire drills) were not practiced monthly with all caregivers and children.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (01/14/2020), it was established that during the month of September 2019 an emergency evacuation drill was not practice for the Family Day Home (FDH).
2. Based on the posted log, a shelter-in-place drill was conducted in September. The Provider stated (during an interview conducted on the date of inspection) that she thought the shelter-in-place drill would be counted in lieu of an emergency drill.

Plan of Correction: Going forward, a monthly emergency evacuation drill shall be conducted on a monthly basis. In addition, a shelter-in-place drill shall be conducted at least once every six months. All practiced drills shall be recorded on the posted log.
