Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included clarification of a child's allergies and action to take; training to use Epipens, annual parent update of sunblock and insect repellant authorization, and CPR classes.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection took place today from 10 am - 12 pm. There were 9 children present for 18 points with the provider and two assistants. I observed group singing, listening to a story, working with puzzles and manipulative toys, doing role play in dramatic play, and talking (excitedly) about today's special birthday party.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-150-D-1
Description: Based on a review of staff records today, Staff # 3 had a certificate from a CPR class that doesn't meet the licensing standards. The certificate said that she completed the written test, but the physical skills test is also required for proper certification.

Plan of Correction: She will take another class.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-230-B
Description: Based on a review of training certificates today, not all staff took the required 16 hours of training this year.
Evidence:
Although in past years the provider and assistants exceeded training recommendations, this past year there were less that 16 hours of training for Assistant # 1 and 2.

Plan of Correction: They are scheduled to go next week for two days, and we will all do more online training.

Standard #: 63.2-1720.1-B-2
Description: Based on a review of records during today's inspection, there were no results of fingerprints as required for one household member.
Evidence:
Household Member # 2 turned 18 years old in September, but there are no results from fingerpints available.

Plan of Correction: She will do this as soon as possible.
