Children's records, caregiver training, background checks, the physical plant, child care equipment, emergency preparedness items, and caregiver:child interactions were inspected today.

The children were observed napping, playing with toys, and interacting with each caregiver.
The children were to be served chicken, rice, apples, broccoli, and milk for lunch today.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-250-E
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that balloons were not stored in a manner to keep them inaccessible to the children.
Evidence:
Upon arrival, the Inspector observed one inflated latex balloon on the floor in the main level child care area. Two infants were in care in this area. In addition, the Inspector observed several inflated latex balloons taped to the ceiling corners in the basement level child care area. One infant was asleep in his crib on this level.

Plan of Correction: The floor balloon was popped and thrown away immediately during the inspection. All other balloons will be popped and thrown away as soon as the baby wakes up.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two electrical outlets were not covered with child resistant covers.
Evidence:
One outlet in the basement child care room, and one outlet in the main level child care room were not covered. Each outlet was on the lower half on the wall in an area accessible to the children.

Plan of Correction: Outlets were covered during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-570-A
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that she did not exceed caring for a maximum total of 16 points of children.
Evidence:
Upon arrival, the Inspector observed the provider home alone with 5 children in care. These 5 children totaled 20 points.

Plan of Correction: My assistant had to leave for a few minutes to get milk for the children. He returned a few minutes after the Inspector arrived. I will make sure to never go over 16 points in the future.
