Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 9:05am to 11:00am with the provider. There were six children in care, ranging from six months to four years of age, for a total of 14 points. Children were observed having structured free play in centers. The children moved between playing with dinosaurs, reading books, playing with table top manipulatives, a doll house, the toy kitchen, and blocks. An infant was observed having tummy time and napping. Five children?s records, the provider's record, and three household members? records were reviewed. The provider has current certification in CPR and First Aid. The provider does not administer medication and must obtain certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT) in order to do so. Lunch today will be spaghetti with beef, corn, applesauce, and milk. The first aid kit, flashlight, weather band radio, and fire extinguisher were observed and were in compliance. The emergency drill log, attendance, and menu were also reviewed and were in compliance.

Please notify the Licensing Inspector when the results of the Household Member's CPS results are returned.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-5-a
Description: Based on review of three household members? records and interview with the provider, the provider did not obtain a central registry report within 30 days for a 14 year-old residing in the home. Evidence: The record for Household Member A, with a date of birth of 11/26/05, did not contain documentation of a central registry check and the provider stated that she was unaware she needed to obtain one.

Plan of Correction: I was unaware of this requirement but will complete the check right away.
