An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 12 children with Provider and 2 assistants were present. When the Inspector arrived, the children were gathered in circle time while one staff read a Dr. Seuss book to them. Children were encouraged to fill in the rhyming word along with the book. An art project which consisted of construction paper and glue was used by the children to make a Dr. Seuss hat to celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday. While the children were completing stations of activities such as kitchen play, writing and coloring and grocery shopping with a grocery cart, staff were observed feeding one infant. Hand washing was observed prior to lunch time, the children lined up and took turns washing hands and returning to the "button carpet" to wait to be seated for lunch. Staff observed sitting with children while they ate. Lunch today was macaroni and cheese, peas and carrots and apple sauce. Observation of the crib room, diapering area and bathroom was made along with the program area. Children participated in a gross motor activity by dancing to music that they sang along with. A total of 5 children's records, all staff (3) records and documentation of emergency procedure drills were reviewed. No medication at this time.
