An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on January 30, 2020 to determine the provider's compliance with family day home standards. The inspection was initiated at 9:50 am and concluded at 12:00 pm. Upon the inspector's arrival, seven children were in care with two caregivers for a total value of 20 points. Children were observed engaged in activities to include puzzles, coloring and playing with toys. Later the caregiver read the story "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" while lunch was being prepared. Today's lunch consisted of sliced ham, rice, fruit, bread, greens and milk. The required posted information was reviewed along with the first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies. The inspector interacted with caregivers and children in care.

Seven children's records, two household member and three caregiver's records were reviewed. There are no children currently on medication. The most recent evacuation drill was conducted on 01/06/2020. The two shelter-in-place drills for 2019 were completed along with a lock down drill on 06/20/2019. An exit interview was conducted at which time inspection findings were reviewed and an Acknowledgement of Inspection form was signed and left. Violations cited during the licensing period were checked for corrections. There was one repeat violation cited during today's inspection. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B
Description: Based on review of seven children's records, the provider did not obtain all required information for one child's record.

The record of child #2, enrolled 09/09/2019, did not contain the address of each custodial parent's place of employment nor the written authorization for emergency medical care should an emergency occur and the parents cannot be located immediately.

Plan of Correction: Per the provider: I will have the parent complete the missing information today at pick up.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.

Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor. Only programs enrolled in Virginia Quality will display a rating. Virginia Quality contact information for your region is available at the following link Regional Contacts.
