An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted Wednesday, January 29, 2020 to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 11:10 AM and concluded the inspection at 12:50 PM. Today, there were six children, totaling 18 points, present with two caregivers. During the inspection, children were having story time, singing songs, dancing, building with legos, taking bathroom breaks, and washing hands. Children's equipment, learning materials, indoor and outdoor space, restrooms, first aid kit and nonmedical emergency supplies were reviewed. The provider stated transportation is not provided at this time. Five children's records, two caregiver and one household member record, fire drill, lockdown drill and shelter in place drill logs, daily attendance and all required postings were reviewed. The provider stated that medication is not administered at this time.
The provider was available for the inspection and was present at the exit interview at which time inspection findings were reviewed and an Acknowledgement of Inspection form was signed and left with the licensee. Violations were cited and can be found in the violation notice.
Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation listed on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from receipt. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s); 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measures. Please do not use staff names; list staff by positions only.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-430-A Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure that children under two years of age and children over two years of age who are not developmentally ready to climb or descend stairs without supervision shall not have access to stairs.
1. In room #1, one set of stairs without a protective barrier to prevent access to the stairs was observed.
2. In room #1, child #1 (date of birth 08/17/2018) and child #3 (date of birth 10/24/2018) were playing during the inspection.
