Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on Friday, January 31, 2020 to determine compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 10:40 AM and concluded the inspection at 12:05 PM. Today, there were four children in care, totaling eight points, present with two caregivers. Lunch consisted of meatloaf, spinach, grapes, and milk. The provider stated that medication is not administered and transportation is not provided at this time. Children?s equipment, learning materials, indoor and outdoor space, and restrooms were inspected. Four children?s records, two caregiver's records, and one household member record, first aid kit, nonmedical emergency supplies and all required postings were reviewed.

The provider was available for the inspection and was present at the exit interview at which time inspection findings were reviewed and an Acknowledgement of Inspection form was signed and left with the licensee. Violations were cited and can be found in the violation notice

Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s); 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measures. Description: Based on a review of caregiver records and interview, the caregiver did not ensure that a minimum of 16 clock hours of training annually in areas relevant to their job duties was obtained.

Evidence:
1. The record for caregiver #1 did not have documentation of annual training hours.
2. The provider stated she did not have training hours for 2019.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-430-A
Description: Based on observation the provider did not ensure that children under two years of age and children over two years of age who are not developmentally ready to climb or descend stairs without supervision shall not have access to stairs.

Evidence:
1. In room #2, one set of stairs without a protective barrier to prevent access to the stairs was observed.
2. In room #2, child #2 (date of birth 05/12/2018) was observed playing during the inspection.
