Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding programming and the amount of time infant and toddlers spend in high chairs.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:45am-11:55am. There were 8 children (22 points) directly supervised by 3 staff. The home, 2 staff records, 4 children?s records, and emergency supplies were inspected. At the time, the provider was not home and a substitute provider was present. Children were observed in high chairs and bouncy seats watching television, washing hands, and eating lunch. Lunch served today was chicken and vegetable noodle soup, taquitos, and strawberries. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact Leah Pagala at 703-537-6757 or

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on observation, equipment in the center was not maintained in a safe condition.

Evidence: A crib was observed to be wobbly and the sides could be moved slightly back and forth. This was previously cited on the renewal inspection conducted in 12/2019. The lose hinge was mended but the crib is still wobbly.

Plan of Correction: We will remove the crib or fix the crib until it is no longer wobbly.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-600-B
Description: Based on observation, infants spent more than 30 minutes of consecutive time during waking hours confined in a high chair.

1) At 10:45am Child 1 (12 monthis), Child 2 (17 months), and Child 3 (29 months) were observed sitting in high chairs watching television. At 11:20am, the children were turned towards the center of the room to begin eating lunch. The children were in the high chairs for a total of 40 consecutive minutes in a high chair watching television. The children were removed from high chairs once lunch was completed which was at about 11:40am.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure that we change the way we do things. We will have one staff play with children while the other completes other tasks.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
