Technical Assistance:
Discussed with the provider the difference between the fingerprint background check and the Central Registry check.

Technical Assistance was given regarding standard 22VAC40-111-920, menus. "When meals or snacks are provided by the family day home, the menu for the current one-week period shall: 1. Be dated; 2. Be given to parents or posted or placed in an area accessible to parents..."

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 5/19/20 and concluded on 5/20/20. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were two children present with the provider. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed two children?s records, the provider's record and one household member's record submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2-1721.1-B-3
Description: Based on review of one household member's file and interview with the provider, the provider did not obtain the results of a search of the central registry for another state in which a household member lived in the previous five years. Evidence: Household Member 1 disclosed on the sworn statement dated 10/31/19 that they had lived in the State of Tennessee within the past five years but a central registry check from Tennessee has not been completed.

Plan of Correction: I thought the fingerprints were all that was needed for all states. I will do this background check right away.
