Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A renewal inspection was initiated on 07/07/2020 and concluded on 07/09/2020. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 5 children present and 3 staff. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Maria Robles at maria.robles-lopez@dss.virginia.gov. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-B
Description: Based on documentation review, shelter-in-place procedures were not practiced a minimum of twice per year.
Evidence:
1) The emergency drills log available for review included the months of January 2020 through June 2020. There were no shelter-in-place drills documented for these months. An emergency drills log for the months January-December of 2019 was not available for review at the time of inspection.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure to conduct shelter-in-place drills in the following months. I will not discard the emergency drills log from the previous year.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-70-A
Description: Based on record review, it was determined that parents were not provided in writing of all required information before the child's first day of attendance.
Evidence:
1) The record for Child #1 did not contain a signed copy of the Policies for the administration of medications for the family day home. A copy of page 1 of these policies was in Child #1's record but page 2 was missing. Page 1 was not signed.

Plan of Correction: I will request the parents to sign the document today.
