Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 8:50 am until 10:10 am. There were 6 children present (20 points) with 2 caregivers supervising. The home, children's records, caregiver's records, evacuation drills, first aid certification, menu's and emergency preparedness procedures were reviewed. There were no medications on site. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-A
Description: Based on a review of evacuation drill logs, the provider failed to ensure that emergency evacuation procedures shall be practiced monthly.

Evidence:
There was no documentation of a practice drill for December 2022.

Plan of Correction: We will practice fire drills each month.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-90-A
Description: Based on a review of children's records, the provider failed to obtain documentation that the child has been adequately immunized according to the requirements of the Code of Virginia and applicable State Board of Health regulations on the first day of attendance.

Evidence:
Child #1 record does not contain documentation of immunizations on the first day of attendance. First day of attendance 01/30/2023.

Plan of Correction: New children enrolled will be required to have proof of immunizations on the first day of attendance.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-280
Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that potentially poisonous substances, such as cleaning agents shall be stored away from areas accessible to children.

Evidence:
Clorox wipes were stored on a shelf in the kitchen accessible to children.

Plan of Correction: We will keep poisonous substances in a place where children can't reach them. The item was moved during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-680-B
Description: Based on observation, the caregivers failed to ensure that the children's hands are washed with liquid soap and warm running water after a diaper change.

Evidence:
Child #1 and Child #5 each had a diaper change, but neither child's hands were washed after the change.

Plan of Correction: We will wash the children's hands after each toileting or diapering change.
