Provided consultation on standard:
1) 430B: Pressure mounted gates shall not be used as protective barriers at stair openings
2) 530F: No soft bedding of any kind shall be used under or around infants including, but not limited to, pillows, quilts, comforters, or stuffed toys
3) 760A: the first aid kit shall include triangular bandages (indicating more than one) and a first aid instructional manual
4) 790: the following telephone numbers shall be posted in a visible area close to the telephone: the responsible person for emergency backup care

An announced initial inspection was conducted from 10:00 am - 12:15 pm with the provider. There were no daycare children in care. Two caregiver/household member records were reviewed and found to be in compliance. Childcare areas inside and outside were observed. The child care area is organized and well equipped with age/stage appropriate supplies, activities, and equipment for the number and ages of children requested. The first aid kit, battery operated flashlight and weather band radio were observed and in compliance. The emergency preparedness plan, menu, required posted information and parent forms were reviewed and discussed. One crib was observed and in compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) federal safety standards for cribs. The provider has current certification in CPR and First Aid and Medication Administration Training (MAT) and can administer medications to children in care. Standard #: 22.1-289.058 Description: Based on observation, and an interview with the provider, the home is not equipped with at least one carbon monoxide detector, as required. Evidence: the provider was not able to identify where the carbon monoxide detector was. Plan of Correction: Provider stated that she will obtain a carbon monoxide detector.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-330-A Description: Based on observation, and interview, the home is not equipped with a landline telephone, excluding a cordless or cell phone, that is available and accessible during the family day homes? hours of operation. An operable landline telephone is one that does not require electricity to operate. Evidence: a landline telephone was not observed, and the provider stated that she did not have one. Plan of Correction: Provider stated that she will obtain a landline telephone.
