22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today. Observed 33 children directly supervised by 3 staff members. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. A sample of 2 children's records and 2 staff records were reviewed. The physical plant, medications, emergency supplies and procedures were also reviewed. The children were engaged in various activities, to include: free play, art projects, circle time, painting, and hand washing. The interior of the center was found to be clean, organized and well supplied with toys, books and equipment for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based upon observations made, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked placing using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: Two cans of shaving cream were inside an unlocked cabinet under the children's sink in the 'Frogs and Turtles' classroom. Plan of Correction: Two cans of shaving cream were immediately placed in a locked cabinet.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based upon observations made, an electrical outlet did not have on protective cover. Evidence: An electrical outlet by the pretend play workshop did not have one of the two required protective covers in the Ducklings class. Plan of Correction: Electrical outlet was immediately covered with a protective cover.
