An announced initial inspection was conducted on 10/30/23 from 11:00am to 12:30pm with the provider. Some standards were not able to be reviewed as standards related to supervision and programming could not be observed because there were no children in care during the inspection. The provider reported that she has not yet enrolled any children, as she wanted to obtain her license first. The provider?s record and four household member records were reviewed. The provider has current certification in CPR and First Aid. The provider plans to operate Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 4:30pm. The provider will care for up to five children, ranging in age from three-months-old to six-years-old. The provider does not plan to administer medication at this time, and is aware of the requirement for Medication Administration Training in order to give medication in the future. The home is equipped with a variety of age-appropriate materials. Meals will be provided by the provider, other than for infants. Policies and procedures were reviewed. The first aid kit, flashlight, weather-band radio, landline phone, fire extinguisher, smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors were observed. Emergency numbers and evacuation maps/procedures were posted. A walk-through of the home was conducted in order to check for any obvious hazards. A conditional (six-month) license will be recommended at this time. An unannounced follow-up inspection will be conducted within 60 days to determine compliance with standards not observed at the initial inspection. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.
