Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 7/31/15 between 4:30pm and 6:00pm. The inspection was conducted with the director. The inspector spoke with staff and children.
The following staff/child ratios were observed:
2 and 3's - two staff with 9 children
3's, 4's, 5's- one staff with eight children
School age - one staff with 9 children
The children were engaged in various activities including playing games, watching a movie and playing with blocks. In the two's room, the staff were observed sitting on the floor playing with the children. Snack this afternoon was a special treat with the children being able to pick their own toppings for ice cream sundaes.
Health inspection - 7/8/15
Fire inspection - 2/6/15
Last fire drill 7/14/15 and a shelter-in-place drill was conducted on 10/28/14 and 3/16/15
All required documents were posted including license, licensing notices, menu, and evacuation information.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J
Description: The center did not ensure that all medication was kept in a locked place, including staff medications. Evidence: Two plastic daily medication dispensers were observed sitting on the corner of the office desk. Staff #1 stated that both contained expired personal OTC medication. Both containers were removed.

Plan of Correction: Removed pill dispenser and will take home. Will not be in the center.
