Discussed with the Director: The accessibility of the posted information for parents regarding the last inspection.
Unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 8:50 and ending at 11:40. There were 67 children present ages 3 months through 4 years of age. All classrooms were in appropriate ratio and there were age and stage appropriate activities observed including circle time and small group activities. Reviewed new menu - the changes to more whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetable. Children are enjoying the changes. Emergency escape drills and shelter in place drills are current as are Health and Fire Inspections. Reviewed 6 children's files - complete Reviewed 5 staff files - complete There are no medications that are to be given at the center. Reviewed 9 accident reports from the month of August - see Violation notice. There are 18 staff certified in First Aid and CPR. Licensing Inspector: Linda Reynolds 540-272-2663
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-B Description: Based on classroom observations, it was determined that the supplies in several classrooms are not in adequate numbers. Evidence: The supplies in the school age classroom are not adequate for the number of children who are present before and after school, including books, homework materials, games and building. The supplies in Infant B classroom were few and contained on 2 small shelves. In the Two's classroom, the Social Living supplies area has very few supplies, like food, dishes and pots and pans. Plan of Correction: The Director states that this has been discussed with the Educational Specialist and an order is being placed for those classrooms.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-M Description: Based on a review of 9 Accident reports, it was determined that staff are not filling out the forms completely. Evidence : Of the 9 accident reports that were reviewed, 4 forms did not have documentation of how parents were notified and actions to take to prevent recurrence. Plan of Correction: Staff will be retrained at the next staff meeting.
