An announced Initial inspection was conducted on May 23, 2024. The inspector was on-site from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. The provider plans to provide care to children two years through five years. A capacity of (12) twelve children is recommended based on childcare space and zoning.
Care will be provided on the second level of the home in three rooms. Snacks will be provided by the licensee. The home is equipped with a variety of age-appropriate equipment and supplies including materials for gross motor, art, literacy, and dramatic play. Transportation will not be provided. The provider will not administer medications. There were four children
present during today?s inspection. A walk through of the entire home was conducted during today's inspection.
The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing, emergencies, and nutrition. A total of two caregiver records and four children?s records were reviewed along with one household member?s record. A conditional (6 month) license will be recommended. An unannounced follow-up will be conducted within 60 days to determine compliance with standards not determined at the initial inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-770-40-C-1-a Description: Based on record review and interview, the applicant did not obtain the results of a central registry check upon application for licensure.
Evidence:
1. The record of the applicant did not contain documentation of a completed central registry check.
2. The record of household member #1 and household member #2 did not contain documentation of a completed central registry check.Plan of Correction: Per the provider: I will request the background checks today.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-240-A Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure all areas and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside, were maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
Evidence:
A wooden structure in the garden, next to the play area, had multiple nails exposed. The nails posed a risk of snagging the skin of a child in care.Plan of Correction: Per the applicant: We will remove the wooden structure from the yard.
