Thank you for your assistance during this unannounced inspection. This on-site visit was conducted on October 5, 2015 from 10:15 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. On this date, there were sixty-one (61) children in the care of fifteen (15) staff members in eight classrooms. There were five (5) children's records and two (2) staff records reviewed and updated. The medication and medication paperwork was reviewed for one child. Areas of non-compliance may be found on the violation notice. Areas observed were educational center activities, story time, hand washing/bathroom and diapering procedures, transition, outside play, lunch, nap and departure. Lunch was observed to meet USDA guidelines and chicken pasta, mixed fruit, broccoli, and milk. All interactions between staff and the children were appropriate and the children seemed comfortable with the daily routine. Children have been completing seasonal activities and artwork is displayed throughout the center. There are a wide variety of age/stage materials for the children in care. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E Description: Children's Tylenol and Equate Gas drops were found in Classroom # 1 and were not labeled with the child's name. Evidence: Based on observation and discussion with the staff it was confirmed the Children's Tylenol and Equate Gas drops were not labeled with the child's name. Plan of Correction: The medication belonged to a previously enrolled student. The medication will be removed from the classroom. In the future, all medication will be labeled with the child's name.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-C Description: Child E did not have written parent authorization to apply "Organic Diaper Cream." Evidence: Based on record review and discussion with the staff it was determined Child E did not have written parent authorization to apply diaper ointment/cream. Plan of Correction: The staff will return the diaper cream to the parent and request written authorization.
