- Technical Assistance:
Today staff inquired about the use of the in house gymnasium on occasions when outdoor play is not available due to weather conditions. The gymnasium is not licensed as a routine location for the care of children and should be treated as an "outing" and monitored by staff to ensure that is is maintained in a safe condition and in compliance with the standards prior to the children entering it.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:20 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. At the time of entrance the following adult to child ratios were observed: 13 children, ages 3 to 5 years old, with 2 staff The records sample size consisted of 3 children?s records. Staff records are housed off site and were last reviewed on 6/23/15 . Children were observed engaged in circle time learning to include letters and phonics, counting and sight word recognition and free choice learning centers. Medication administration was not observed. However, one medication was stored on site for emergency use and was reviewed with regard to storage, labeling, written authorizations and required documentation. Children are not transported in a vehicle while in care and staff state that no accidents or injuries have been incurred by children while in care since the school year began. Thank you for your time during today's inspection. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance.
