An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:30am-1:00pm. Upon arrival there were 34 children in care with 7 staff members present. A sample of 3 staff and 3 children's records were reviewed in addition to 5 medications. Children were observed practicing for a holiday play and in the lunch room.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a record review the center failed to ensure each staff person had the required information. Evidence: Staff #1 was listed as a teacher assistant in the file, however, according to the director, was promoted to a program leader. The staff member's new title and date of promotion was not listed in the record. Plan of Correction: This was an oversight. The director will record the staff's new title and date of promotion in her file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-E Description: Based on observation the center failed to have all required nonmedical emergency supplies. Evidence: The center did not have an emergency radio that worked with batteries. Plan of Correction: The center had one, but someone from the church borrowed it. The director will get a small weather band radio and put it with the first aid supplies.
