An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today December 10, 2015 to determine the facilities compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 10:00 am and concluded the inspection at 1:00 pm. Upon the inspector's arrival, children were observed in a variety of activities. Children were playing in centers (play dough, house keeping, manipulatives, farm animals and blocks), and art. Two tables were set up for art. One was a group project where children were decorating a large snowman with glitter and colored decorations. At the other art table children created Christmas trees, snow flakes and wreaths out of colored paper. Later children had movement and music where they danced to music. The classroom had age and stage appropriate materials and had children's work displayed along with a board entitled "Celebration". On the board children's accomplishments were noted. All required information was posted to include the license, last inspection notice, daily schedule, emergency numbers, menu, evacuation procedures/maps and parent information. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. The inspector interacted with staff and children. Three staff records were reviewed along with four children's records. Two staff have current MAT and daily health observation training. All staff have current CPR and first aid training. Per the staff currently there is no medication being administered. The most recent evacuation drill was conducted on 11/06/2015. Today's menu consisted of cheeseburger on a bun, tator tots, fruit juice, fruit cup and milk. Today's there were 19 children with three staff and 1 parent volunteer. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing Inspector at 804-662-9758
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the facility did not maintain areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: The cabinet door under the sink has a bent hinge preventing the door to be closed. The bent hinge is exposed and creates a sharp edge and possible pinch point. Plan of Correction: Per the Director: we will report the cabinet door to maintenance and ask that they repair the door hinge.
