- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was given regarding standard 22VAC40-185-(3)-240-D-5 and the clear documentation required for showing that at least one staff member on duty has obtained within the last three years instruction in performing the daily health observation of children. Consultation was given regarding the location of the items required to be posted for the public to easily view.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on January 26, 2016 from approximately 8:45 AM to 11:15 AM. There were 5 staff were present with 33 children. The sample size of records reviewed were 3 children's and 1 staff record was reviewed on this date. The playground was not inspected due to inclement weather. The center is not administering medication. Children were observed during lesson time, snack and working on counting activities. Areas of noncompliance are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure all enrolled children's records contained all the information. Evidence: During the inspection on January 26, 2016 three children's records were reviewed and the following records were determined to be incomplete. 1) The record for child #1 did not include the home address for one of the emergency contacts listed. 2) The record for child #2 did not include the employment phone number for one of the parents listed. Plan of Correction: The center supervisor will have the records updated.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation, the licensee did not ensure that all children's hands were washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals or snacks. Evidence: During the inspection on January 26, 2016 the children in classroom 104 were observed preparing for and eating snack. The children did not wash their hands prior to eating their morning snack. Plan of Correction: The center supervisor will retrain the staff.
