An unannounced renewal was conducted. The total enrollment for the school is 147. The classes were all observed and all groups were in ratio. The Inspector observed arrivals and teacher interactions. The staff were asked about drills, or allergies, and special care. The staff were friendly and able to answer questions. The Inspector observed the two's group and the young preschool class and saw various activities available for the children. The head count sheets were also reviewed and based on staff interviews, ratios were in compliance during the day. Medication and medication authorizations were up to date. Records, drills, Orientation and training documentation were also reviewed. Please call with questions 703-479-4679
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on record review of three staff files, the center does not have completed information in the files. 1. Staff #1 does not have documentation of education as required for the lead position. 2. Staff #2 does not have documentation of TB Screening. Plan of Correction: We will request information and Screening.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the inside of the center is not maintained clean and safe condition. Evidence: 1. The doors leading to the Kindergarten class, School age room, the preschool room, the door leading to the classrooms, and the toddler room all have peeling paint and could be peeled by the Inspector. 2. The walls in preschool room have peeling paint as well. 3. The floors in the preschool room and the school age class are dirty. Plan of Correction: Upper management stated the doors and walls will be completed by the end of this weekend. The floors are being stripped and waxed within two weeks.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J Description: Based on observation, the medication is stored in a manner that does not prevent access to children. Evidence: 1. Medication observed in the locked medication box which is located in the office. The box is at children's level and the key was observed in the locked box. Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection. Will keep key up out of reach.
