A follow up inspection in response to a request for emergency relocation for the facility was conducted today, October 22, 2015. The inspector arrived at 11:45 am and concluded the inspection at 2:00 pm. Measurements for capacity for each classroom were calculated. Center policies, injury reports, and standard form were reviewed and systems are in place to obtain all required documentation for staff and children's records. Classrooms were equipped with age and stage appropriate materials. Additional materials and equipment have been ordered. Children are providing their own meals until the owner can obtain a service/vender to provide the meals. All areas of the facility were inspected. Children were in attendance and observed in various activities. The toddlers were playing with puzzles and preparing for lunch. The Infants were napping and later were up and playing on the carpet with toys. Diapering was observed and snack. The preschool children were having circle time. Children reviewed the months of the year, days of the week and the alphabet. Children sang songs and watched a short video before preparing for lunch. School age children were not in attendance during the inspection. The License, emergency evacuation procedures/map, emergency numbers, daily schedules and various parent information was posted. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. The facility does not have a playground area. The playground located at St. John's Episcopal Church at the end of the block will be used with documentation of parental permission for walking field trip to the play ground. Capacity calculated for classrooms: Classroom #1 (caterpillar 1) 13 children Classroom #2 (caterpillar 2) 10 children Classroom #3 (cuddle bugs) 10 children Classroom #4 (butterflies) 12 children Basement, 49 children Today's Ratios: Caterpillar 1: Toddler, 5 children with 1 staff. Caterpillar 2: Two year olds, 6 children with 1 staff. Butterflies: Preschool, 12 children with 2 staff. Cuddle Bugs: Infants, 5 infants with 2 staff.
