An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:49 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. There were forty-three children in care with ten teachers working directly with them. There were other personnel available to assist as needed. Three children's records were reviewed. The records for two new teachers were reviewed. The infants were observed being feed, diapered, played with by teachers, crawling and standing up, bouncing in the bouncy chair and babbling. The older children were observed during lunch, asking for more please, using their utensils for eating, exercising good manners and engaged in conversations. An activity observed was the older children using a blindfold to experience the sense of sight and talking about how it felt to take steps without sight.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on a review of documentation the facility failed to have a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills in 2015. Evidence: 1. On 02/24/2016 the licensing inspector reviewed the documentation of shelter-in-place practices for 2015. The only documented shelter-in-place was 04/09/2015. 2. On 02/24/2016 staff #1 confirmed that there was only one shelter-in-place practice documented for 2015. Plan of Correction: We will ensure that we have at a minimum two shelter-in-place practices in 2016.
