Comments:
The following inspection took place between the hours of 2 pm through 3:30 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of the County After-School Activities (CASA) program located on site at Cool Spring Elementary school in the town of Leesburg, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced renewal inspection there were a total of 27 children with 2 staff; good ratio for this one group. A total of 3 children?s files were reviewed. Staff files were reviewed on an earlier date. The children were engaged in the following: drop-in, circle time, bathroom breaks, hand washing, snack, homework time, art, games, large motor activities, and other organized activities. If you should have any future questions, please call. Thank you. Charlie Perkins, Licensing Inspector (703) 309-3963

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F
Description: Based on observation, the center did not follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (02/25/2016), for snack, animal crackers was served with water. Based on USDA requirements, this snack only meets 1 of at least 2 different components from the required 4 food group areas. In other words, while the animal cracks fit into the wheat & grain area, water is not part of the remaining 3 areas; dairy, meat, or fruit & vegetable. 2. The snack is provided by the center.

Plan of Correction: Upper administration has been made aware of this issue and are taking steps in order for all centers to fall into compliance.
