A complaint was received in the licensing office on 3/3/16 and investigated on-site on 3/16/16. Classroom ratios, interaction with staff and children, bathrooms, and interviews with staff were conducted. There are no findings regarding the complaint, deeming it not valid. In addition to the complaint investigation, a mandated monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 11am. There were 72 children present today with 12 teachers. Children were observed playing outside on the playground, dancing to music, eating lunch, and napping. An interaction between teachers and two children was observed when the two children used inappropriate language. Guidance and redirection were observed as both positive and constructive in nature. Violations cited from July 1, 2015 inspection were reviewed today and found to be corrected, including children's records, accident reports, battery operated radio, current fire inspection, physical plant, adhesive tape in the first aid kit and emergency drills. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Complaint related: No Description: Based on direct observation, 5 outlets are missing protective covers in two separate classrooms. Evidence: Under a bulletin board in the 3's classroom two outlets were missing protective covers. In the 4's classroom underneath the windows, two outlets were missing a protective cover in addition to an outlet near the cubby storage shelf. Plan of Correction: Outlet covers were placed in the outlets during the inspection. We will replace outlet covers if we are no longer using an outlet.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-320-B Complaint related: No Description: Based on direct observation, one classroom bathroom did not have toilet paper for children. Evidence: The bathroom in the two's classroom did not have any toilet paper. Plan of Correction: Toilet paper was brought to the classroom during the inspection. We will make sure we check on toilet paper levels and keep the bathrooms stocked.
