- Technical Assistance:
Areas of the licensing standards discussed and/or clarification provided on April 12, 2016 included: handwashing (children's hands) after diapering; regulations for playground equipment; follow-up on annual health inspection (due this month); background clearance required prior to a staff member being alone with children; and information/documents required to be reviewed/updated semi-annually or annually.
Thank you for your time and assistance during the unannounced monitoring inspection conducted on April 12, 2016, between the hours of approximately 10:30 a.m. and 3:25 p.m. Sixty-seven (67) children were enrolled and forty-six (46) children were in the care of thirteen (13) staff members during the on site inspection. Two additional staff members were present and able to assist, as needed. Five children's records and thirteen (13) staff records were reviewed and/or updated. Five children's medications and two children's topical ointments, as well as accompanying authorization forms and administration log (one medication) were reviewed. Safety equipment (facility and vehicle), posted information (license, licensing inspection documentation, emergency evacuation diagram, emergency telephone numbers, and classroom schedules) and available documents (emergency evacuation drill & shelter-in-place records, insurance verification, attendance logs, infant daily records and local agency reports) were observed/reviewed. The daily schedules accurately reflected the activities provided. Lunches and snacks were provided by the children's parents. Activities observed on this date included: indoor play; outdoor play; preschool learning activity (discussion of insects); table activity (coloring); diapering, restroom and handwashing procedures; lunch; story/book time; naptime; infant care; and arrival/departure of children. Staff/child interactions were observed to be positive and supportive of children's growth and development. The facility was observed to be clean and supplied with a variety of age/stage appropriate learning and play materials/toys. No violations of licensing standards were cited during this inspection.
